Almost a year has passed since screen­writ­ing teacher and script con­sul­tant Blake Sny­der died. To com­mem­o­rate that sad anniver­sary, the Save the Cat! folks have repeated his last blog post, which reminds us to be patient with our­selves as we learn any craft.

It’s the kind of wise advice that bears rereading.

  1. I was so shocked when I learned (months after the fact) that Blake had died–he had so much energy and enthu­si­asm, I thought he’d be around for­ever. The writ­ing com­mu­nity lost one of its bright­est and most supportive.

  2. It’s always a shock when the good die that young. I didn’t get to hear Blake in per­son, but I’ve heard noth­ing but praise for him from those who did. I have the Save the Cat! books. His energy and gen­eros­ity shine through them.
